Dolls for the Princesses: The Story of France and Marianne by Faith Eaton, It is well known that the Royal Collection contains an outstanding range of dolls and dolls' houses. The story told here concerns two very special dolls -- France and Marianne -- which were given to Queen Elizabeth and Princess Margaret in 1938, when they were, respectively, twelve and eight years old. Intended as a tangible expression of the Entente Cordiale between Great Britain and France on the eve of World War II, the dolls and their trousseaux also acted as a showcase for the French fashion industry and the elegant world of Parisian haute couture. Faith Eaton, the well-known writer and lecturer on the subject of dolls and doll collecting, here describes the historical events leading up to the presentation of the dolls, their creation in the world-famous Jumeau factory, and the preparation of their vast collection of designer dresses, fur coats, hats, shoes, and miniature accessories. Contributions came from the most prestigious fashion houses of the day, including Lanvin and Cartier, Hermes and Vuitton, and the excellence of their work is clearly seen in the book's specially commissioned photography. In her final chapter Eaton describes her own delicate conservation work, carried out over the years, to maintain the dolls' original perfection.
Campus Fashions Paper Dolls: 1900s-1980s by Tom Tierney, Eight male and eight female figures model nine decades of collegiate fashions, among them turn-of-the-century shirtwaists and floor-length skirts, "flapper" outfits and raccoon coats from the '20s, casual dresses, shirts and trousers from the '40s and denims, sportswear and running shoes from the '70s and '80s. A delight for collectors, paper doll fans, and anyone with pleasant memories of their campus years.
Fashion doll - Fashion dolls are typically small dolls (often 12.5" or shorter) designed to be dressed and redressed to reflect fashion trends or occasionally fantasy play. Crissy Doll - The Crissy Doll was created in the Ideal Toy Corporation's prototype department in 1968. This auburn-haired 18" fashion doll was known for its ability to grow a head of long tresses through the use of an internal spring tension rod activated from a button on the doll's tummy. Fetish fashion - Fetish fashion refers to the clothing often worn in the BDSM scene, which is usually erotic or revealing in nature. Materials such as leather, latex, rubber and pvc, spandex and fishnet are common, as are items of clothing such as stiletto heeled shoes and boots, corsets and garters. What's Her Face (doll) - What's Her Face is a line of fashion dolls created by Mattel, intended to be customized with washable markers, stampers, and wigs, among other items. The line is now discontinued, though the What's Her Face body mold is still in production and being used for the Wee 3 Friends.
